Spain entered the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Canada, Mexico and the United States as reigning European champions under Luis de la Fuente. Drawn into Group H alongside Cabo Verde, Saudi Arabia and Uruguay, Spain began with a 0–0 draw against Cabo Verde before defeating Saudi Arabia 4–0 and Uruguay 1–0.
