Celebrate a memorable cup campaign with the Sheffield Wednesday 2001–02 Away Retro Football Jersey. During a challenging First Division season, the Owls finished 20th with 50 points, narrowly avoiding relegation from England's second tier. Despite their league difficulties, Wednesday produced an impressive League Cup run, overcoming Sunderland, Crystal Palace, Aston Villa and Watford to reach the semi-finals. Their journey ended against Blackburn Rovers, who subsequently won the competition. The campaign remains notable for its contrasting league struggles and unexpected domestic cup success.

The squad featured several recognisable players from Sheffield Wednesday's early-2000s era. Dutch forward Gerald Sibon led the team's scoring with 13 goals in all competitions, while experienced Nigerian striker Efan Ekoku played a particularly important role in the League Cup, scoring against Aston Villa and in both semi-final matches. Young midfielder Matt Hamshaw contributed a goal in the quarter-final victory over Watford, while Alan Quinn and Paul McLaren provided energy in midfield. Finnish international Shefki Kuqi joined during the season, adding another attacking option alongside Simon Donnelly and Michele Di Piedi.

The away jersey features a vibrant yellow base with contrasting sky-blue detailing, creating a distinctive alternative to Sheffield Wednesday's traditional blue-and-white home stripes. The club crest appears on the chest alongside the colourful Chupa Chups sponsor, whose familiar red-and-yellow graphic complements the shirt's bold appearance. Its bright colours and understated early-2000s styling give the design a recognisable Football League identity. Closely associated with Wednesday's memorable League Cup semi-final run, this retro jersey is an appealing collector's piece for supporters of the Owls and enthusiasts of classic English football shirts.
