One of the most iconic African football shirts of the modern era, the Cameroon 2002 home shirt represents a remarkable year for the Indomitable Lions.

Cameroon began 2002 by successfully defending their Africa Cup of Nations title, defeating Senegal on penalties in the final to become African champions for the fourth time. The squad featured an exceptional generation of talent, including Samuel Eto'o, captain Rigobert Song, Patrick M'Boma, Marc-Vivien Foé, Geremi and Lauren. Later that year, Cameroon travelled to Korea and Japan for the FIFA World Cup, where a 21-year-old Eto'o scored the winning goal against Saudi Arabia.

The shirt itself became one of the most talked-about football designs of its era. Built around Cameroon's traditional green base with bold red and yellow national-colour detailing, its defining feature was the radical sleeveless construction worn during the Africa Cup of Nations. After the design was ruled unsuitable for the World Cup, the tournament version appeared with distinctive solid black sleeves added to the original green body. The unusual silhouette, vibrant national colours and famous sleeve controversy turned the 2002 Cameroon shirt into an instantly recognisable piece of football design history.

    IN BETWEEN SIZES?

That's easier said than done. Because what do you do if you are in between two sizes?

Well, that's up to you. Do you like a tight fit? Go for the smaller size. Loving a loose fit? Go for the larger size.

    Best Printing Choice: ETO'O 9

    Other Strong Options: SONG 4 / M'BOMA 10 / FOÉ 17 / GEREMI 8

We recommend ETO'O 9 as the standout printing choice for this shirt. Still only 21 in 2002, Samuel Eto'o was already emerging as one of Africa's most exciting attacking talents and played an important role in Cameroon's Africa Cup of Nations-winning side. At the World Cup in Korea and Japan, he wore No. 9 and scored the decisive goal in Cameroon's 1–0 victory over Saudi Arabia. He would go on to become one of the greatest African footballers of his generation, making ETO'O 9 our strongest choice for both historical relevance and worldwide recognition.

We also recommend SONG 4 for collectors looking for a player even more closely associated with the Cameroon national team. Captain Rigobert Song was already appearing at his third World Cup in 2002 and was one of the leaders of the side that successfully defended the Africa Cup of Nations earlier that year.
