Inter’s European journey culminated at the Parc des Princes in Paris, where they defeated Lazio 3–0 in the first UEFA Cup Final to be decided over a single match. Iván Zamorano opened the scoring before Javier Zanetti doubled the advantage, with Ronaldo completing the victory after rounding goalkeeper Luca Marchegiani. The result secured Inter’s third UEFA Cup and the first trophy of the Massimo Moratti era.
